Trump Congratulates Doug Jones on Hard-Fought Victory; Says He Knew Moore Couldn't Win

Trump Congratulates Doug Jones on Hard-Fought Victory
  Doug Jones, the winning candidate

President Trump on Tuesday night tweeted to the Democratic candidate Doug Jones, for winning a "hard-fought" victory on Tuesday night against Republican rival Roy Moore.  He narrowly defeated Roy Moore to fill out the remainder of Jeff Sessions' term in the Senate.  Trump also tweeted that he knew Moore couldn't win and that was why he backed Luther Strange in the GOP primary in Alabama.

I'm going to give you my thoughts on this subject.  Doug Jones won not because of Roy Moore's "conservatism" or that he fought for the Ten Commandments, for example, but because of the sexual allegations against Roy Moore that he had played around with a 14-year old teenage girl when he was in his 30's.  The sad fact was that Moore didn't prove to the voters that he wasn't guilty of the charge.  That's what destroyed him.  If it wasn't for those sexual allegation charges, then he would've won.  But he failed to prove to voters that he was innocent.  Whether or not he was innocent I can't prove one way or another,  I read the thoughts of one former radio talk show host and he recommended that Moore take a lie detector test to prove his innocence.  Moore didn't do that.  He more than likely should've done that.  If he had,  then it might have given more given him more credibility with the voters.  Since he didn't, then that's why he lost.  Instead we have a radical leftist who will vote for the Democrats' agenda in Congress.  Alabama needs better than that.  Let's hope in 2020 a strong formidable candidate will run against Jones for the Senate seat, and hopefully Jones will be defeated.  Click on the above link to read the election results.

Democrat Doug Jones Wins Senate Race in Alabama

Democrat Doug Jones Wins Senate Race in Alabama

Democratic candidate Doug Jones is the projected winner of the Deep South.  He unexpectedly wins in the state of Alabama.  As a result of Jones' victory, the ratio of Republicans to Democrats is 51-49, which is a narrow margin for the GOP.  The state's former U.S. attorney beat former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore amid allegations that Moore had a sexual tryst with teenage girls. esp. with the national outrage at this time against sexual abuse in the public arena.  Moore had a sizable lead up until the time the allegations against Moore came out and Moore wasn't able to overcome that in the special election.

Saint Nicholas

Who is Saint Nicholas?

St. Nicholas

a drawing of Saint Nicholas

St. Nicholas was a "Christian" bishop of Myra who was supposedly known for giving gifts and helping the poor.  He was born in around 280 A.D. in Patara, a land that is part of present-day turkey.  He lost both his parents as a young man and supposedly used his inheritance to help the poor and sick.  He was known as a devout Christian who served as bishop of Myra, which is now a city called Demre.  There are many legends revolving around St. Nicholas.  One of the legends is that he helped three poor girls by giving them a dowry or else they would've been sent into servitude by their father because their father didn't have enough money for a dowry.  It was told that St. Nicholas came on three occasions at night and placed a bag of money.  The father used the money for one of them to get married.  On the third visit, the father thanked the bishop for his kindness.  It was also told that St. Nicholas reportedly saved three men who were falsely imprisoned and sentenced to death.

St. Nicholas Day is celebrated on December 6th of each year.  It's said that St. Nicholas died on December 6, 343.  He was known as the protector of children and sailors and was involved in gift-giving.  He was considered a popular saint in Europe until the time of the Protestant Reformation.  As a result of the Reformation, honoring saints was de-emphasized even though Saint Nicholas was a popular figure.  The Dutch continued to celebrate the feast day of St. Nicholas, which was December 6th.  It was a common practice for the children to place their shoes out the night before and in the morning they would find gifts for them, according to legend.

In centuries gone by, the Dutch would bring Sinter Klaas, St. Nicholas's nickname, to America in the 1770's.  The mystical character called Santa Claus is a modern caricature of St. Nicholas, even though there's been transformations taking place to make him the modern figure he is.  It was cartoonist Thomas Nast and a dentist, Clement Clark Moore, that brought about the modern-day Santa Claus in America.  In 1820, Moore wrote a poem entitled, "An Account of a Visit From St. Nicholas", which is popularly known as "Twas the Night Before Christmas" which brought about the modern Santa Claus tradition in America.  Prior to the 1820's, Christmas was hardly celebrated in America.  The Puritans banned Christmas from New England in the seventeenth century.  Christmas was more about drunkenness, gluttony, and rioting than it was about celebrating the birth of Jesus in early America.

I am by no means trying to promote Santa Claus.  I'm only presenting what history says about the mythical character of Santa Claus.  St. Nicholas was a real man in past history.  How true the accounts are about St. Nicholas is debatable.  There are so many legends about St. Nicholas.  The truth is that God and God alone is the giver of good gifts--not Santa Claus.

Pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum

(About.com) "Little Drummer Boy" was originally entitled "Carol of the drums" because of the repeating line Pa rum pum pum pum which imitates the sound of a drum.

The song "Little Drummer Boy" was believed to be written by Katherine K. Davis in 1941 based on an old czech carol.  Other names credited for this song are Henry Onarati and Harry Simeone.  A claymation version based on this song was produced by Rankin-Bass for television in 1968 with the voice of Eileen Evelyn Greer Garson narrating.

The Alabama Special Election 2017

Watch Roy Moore and Steve Bannon Drain the Swamp Rally

I strongly urge all the registered voters in Alabama to take the time to vote today in this special election.  Your choices in today's contest are former Supreme Court state justice Roy Moore who is Republican and businessman Doug Jones, who is a Democrat.  Anybody who has read this blog should have a good idea where I stand when it comes to the choice of candidates.  I know many are going to claim they can't vote for Roy Moore because of the recent sexual allegations made against him.  However, there hasn't been any proof that those charges four decades ago are accurate.  So far Moore has denied those charges and unless otherwise proven, I'm going to assume he's innocent.  Don't buy into all the junk the Establishment GOP in Washington such as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell or Alabama Senator Richard Shelby have to say.  Their opposition to Roy Moore has nothing whatsoever to do with the charges against him.  It's all politically motivated.  The GOP doesn't want Moore in Congress because of the God he has tried to represent in the public eye in the state of Alabama.  The GOP wants a globalist in Washington who's for amnesty and illegal immigration and everything that is in opposition to the U.S. Constitution and the Judeo Christian foundation our country was established upon.  Our elected elite in Washington have no desire for a patriot to occupy the White House--and that' no lie.  I'm definitely not going to believe anything the GOP in Washington has to say about Moore because it has nothing to do with the unproven allegations against him.  It has all to do what he's stood for in the political arena.  Will Moore stand up for the Constitution and for the God of our forefathers.  I hope so but I do know that Doug Jones is for sanctuary cities and amnesty for illegals.  We don't need those kind of politicians in Washington.  I would strongly encourage all voters in Alabama to vote for Roy Moore.

NYPD Identifies 27-Year Old Akayed as ULlah as NYC Bomber

Law enforcement sources have identified the man who attempted a suicide bombing at the Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station in New York City on Monday morning as 27-year-old Akayed Ullah.

Law enforcement sources have identified the man who attempted the bombing at the Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station on Monday morning as 27-year old Akayed Ullah.  "Ullah was from Bangladesh and was living in Brooklyn.  He was injured when the device apparently went off prematurely and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.  He suffered burns to his hands and other lacerations," reported CBS News in New York.  According to Police Commissioner James O'Neill, Ullah had two explosive devices, one of which was "affixed to his body with velcro and zip ties."  The New York Times quoted a "senior city official" who said police had to Strip Ullah naked to remove the device affixed to his body.  CBS described one of these devices as "crudely made" with "wires protruding from it.  Investigators briefly spoke to the alleged  bomber who told them he made the explosive device at the electrical company where he works.  The New York Post wrote of a "5-inch metal pipe bomb and battery pack strapped to his midsection."  According to all indications, Ullah was planning a mass-casualty attack, hoping to detonate his bombs in a crowded area.  One anti-terrorism official stated he could've killed a lot of people if hsi bomb hadn't detonated prematurely.  Several sources have described Ullah as "ISIS-inspired, or acting in the name of the Islamic State.  Click on the above link to read the full story.

The Wise Men's Gifts to Jesus

Image result for the wise men's gifts to jesus
(Matthew 2:1-12) Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem. Saying, Where is he that it is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod teh king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the kin, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

In reading the account of the wise men bringing their gifts to Jesus, you see that these gifts were very expensive. They had seen his star in the east and they wanted to come and worship him. I was studying the three gifts that the wise men had presented to Jesus. They were gold, frankincense, and myrrh. I was reading trying to determine what the spiritual significance of those gifts were. It says a lot for them to bring the kind of gifts they did to Jesus. Jesus was born into this world and he was to be the King of the Jews. He was to be the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. You can't reach any higher than that. Jesus' coming into the world was foretold a few millennia beforehand. Here the wise men had come to worship him and bring him valuable gifts. That explains much when it comes to what kind of baby Jesus was. If we were to invite the President of the United States over to our house, we wouldn't prepare him leftovers we had a few days a ago. We would fix him the finest meal that's ever been fixed. We would use the freshest ingredients to prepare that meal. We would prepare him an extravagant meal. Also, we would decorate our house in such a splendid manner to welcome the arrival of such a guest. Why? Because of the position he holds. He's the president. He's the leader of the free world. Jesus wasn't no ordinary baby. He came into this world to die for the sins of mankind. He was born a Jew from the seed of David. He will one day reign as king in the Millennial Reign. That's something to consider when you read about the type of gifts the wise men presented to Jesus.

I was busy studying about the three gifts that the wise men gave to Jesus and I thought it was very intriguing in what I read. I'm going to take time to describe what each of the gifts represent. I was looking on the website and it supposedly had the name of the three wise men. They were Balthazar, Gaspar, and Melchior. I can't confirm whether the names of these men are correct but I thought I would just mention their names I saw on the website. I looked up information about the three gifts from a couple of websites as well as from a book entitled, Were they Wise Men or Kings? The Book of Christmas Questions. It was authored by Joseph J. Walsh.

Gold of course, is a type of currency. It is a rare type of currrency and as a result, it's very invaluable. It is a medium of exchange. Now frankincense and myrrh are both resins. They are dried tree sap that comes from the trees of the genus Boswellia (frankincense) and commiphora (myrrh) which are found in Northern Africa and the Middle East. Frankincense and myrrh have always been used to create incense, a substance you burn to create pleasing aromas. Cutting the tree's bark causes the sap to flow out of the cut. It's allowed to dry on the tree, then its collected.

The trees that produce frankincense are grown in northern Africa, mostly in Somolia. The trees grow on the rocky coast; the youngest trees furnish the most valuable sap. The season for gathering dried sap lasts from May till the middle of September. The milk-like juice runs from a cut made in the bark and is allowed to harden. After about three months the sap dries into yellowish "tears". These clear globules are scraped off. Frankincense is mixed with spices, seeds, and roots to create different aromas. Traditionally, you burn a powdered form of the incense with charcoal in a censer or a small stand. A censer is a vessel for burning incense. A typical censer is a small metal or stone dish. In many cultures, burning incense has spiritual and religious connotations, and this influences the design and decoration of the censer. Designs vary from simple, earthenware bowls to intrinsically carved silver or gold vessels.

Commiphora is a shrub or small tree found in the desert areas of Somolia and the Red Sea shores of Saudi Arabia. It grows up to 3 m. tall and has tough, knotted branches. The sap or resin is a pale yellow liquid and it flows slowly from cuts in the bark. After it dries it's collected in reddish-brown or irregular lumps. Myrrh means "bitter" in Arabic. Myrrh has been usd for ages as an ingredient in incense, beauty treatments, and perfumes. It also makes a good glue. Writings from 2700 years ago describe how it was also used for embalming. Because the demand for myrrh eventually became so high and because its supply was limited, it became as valuable as gold.

These three gifts have different meanings. I thought it was interesting when I read what they symbolize. Gold is the symbol of kingship on earth. It represents royalty. I believe it could be representative of Christ's royalty. Jesus will come back to this world one and will be crowned King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Jesus will be king on this earth during the Millennial Reign. Frankincense is a symbol of the priesthood. Frankincense was a critical ingredient in the incense and oils used in the Temple in Jerusalem. Pagans also exploited its fragrance in incense oils, and perfumes and used it even to mask the repugnant fumes of bodies being cremated. Frankincense's association with the Jewish Temple priesthood could be symbolic of Jesus' priesthood, or even of his divinity. Jesus today is our high priest. When Jesus died on the cross to atone for the sins of makind it eliminated the need for an earthly priest to offer up sacrifices for the sins of man once a year. Jesus made that payment on Calvary's cross once and for all. He didn't have to sacrifice himself on Calvary's cross once a year. Once was enough for time and eternity. Myrrh is described as the symbol of death. Myrrh was employed as an aromatic additive. Myrrh was used to treat wounds and modern scientific research has shown that myrrh has geniune antiseptic and analgesic properties. According to Mark's Gospel, Jesus was offered on the cross wine laced with myrrh to temper his pain. He received it not (Mark 15:23) Myrrh was also used to anoint the dead, just as it says in John's Gospel. Jesus was embalmed with myrrh after his crucifixion (John 19:39, 40).

The three gifts the magi brought to the newborn baby Jesus were fit for a king. Jesus' birth into the world was finally fulfilled. The wise men honored Jesus with three precious, expensive gifts. We could learn a lesson from that. I know Christmas is now over, but we need to ponder the question on what we can give to Jesus? The most important thing we can give to Jesus is ourselves. That is to allow the Lord to have his way in our lives and to mold us and make us more like Him. Henceforth we are to be conformed to Christ's image.

Daily Beast: Steven Bannon--Electing Moore Isn't Politics, It's War

Steven Bannon: Electing Moore Isn't Politics, Its War
Steve Bannon at rally for Judge Roy Moore in Alabama

After delivering a high-energy on Tuesday to support Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, the Daily Beast reported on Thursday that former White House Chief Strategist Stephen K. Bannon will be accompanying Moore in the final days leading up to the December 12 special election.  Bannon believes Moore's victory is imminent if the GOP is to be transformed into a populist-nationalist party and he plans on backing like-minded candidates against Establishment Republican candidates in future primary and general elections.  President Trump backed Moore via Tweet last Monday morning.  Bannon has extolled Moore as the kind of populist and nationalist figure he desires to see represented in both houses of Congress.  On Tuesday Bannon spoke alongside Moore at a rally in Southern Alabama.  He made the fight against the GOP Establishment, going full blast against Mitt Romney and chastising Romney for doing his "Mormon religious service," rather than fight in Vietnam.  Bannon stated that Romney hid behind his religion.  "Don't tell me about your honor and integrity," stated Bannon.  Roy Moore, however, did service in Vietnam.  Click on the above link to read the story.

Christmas in Vietnam

Christmas in Vietnam

In Vietnam, Christmas Eve is far more important than Christmas Day.  Christmas Day isn't even an official holiday and the Vietnamese only think Christmas is for Christians.  In Ho Chi Minh City, which is the largest city in Vietnam (it used to be called Saigon) people (esp. young people) like to go into the city center, where there's a Catholic cathedral.  The streets are crowded on Christmas eve and the city center cars aren't allowed for the night.  People celebrate by throwing confetti, taking pictures and enjoying the Christmas decorations and the lights of large hotels and department stores.  Lots of cafes and restaurants are open for the people to enjoy a snack.  Not many people in Vietnam proclaim themselves as Christians, but some people like to attend the Midnight Mass services to watch the Nativity plays and listen to Christmas music.  Vietnam used to be a French empire and there are many French influences in the Christmas traditions.

All churches, and some Christian homes will have a nativity crib scene or creche.  Many Catholic churches have a big scene with nearly life size statutes of Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus, and the shepherds and animals.  In some areas of Ho Chi Minh City, esp. in Catholic parishes, people have big crib scenes in front of their houses and decorate the whole street, turning it into a Christmas area.  Many people go visit those areas.  Click on the above link to read the rest of the story.

According to Fox News, ISIS held land in Iraq and Syria that equaled the size of West Virginia, ruled over as many as eight million people, controlled oilfields, refineries, agriculture, smuggling routes, and vast arsenals.  It ran a brutal oppressive government, even printing its own currency.  In 2016, then candidate Trump stated he would crush ISIS if he were elected president.  Then Trump became president and gave a free hand to Mattis and told the military to do what they thought was needed to defeat ISIS.  Fox News gives the details on the state of ISIS as it exists today.  Click on the above link to read the full story.
