Tennessee to Make Bible its Official State Book

With a vote of 19-8, the Bible will be the official book of the state of Tennessee.  If Governor Bill Haslam signs it, then it will be state law.  Tennessee will be the only state in the country that has made the Bible the official book of the state.  Senator Steve Southerland, R-Morristown, was the sponsor of the bill.  Despite the endorsement of the bill by the lawmakers, the bill argues that it underestimates the things they regard sacred  Gov. Haslam and the state attorney general have expressed their argument to make the Bible the official state book.  They question the constitutionality of the legislation.  Click on the above link to read the story.
