Boston Attack Underscores Growing Threat of IED's in America

Boston attack underscores growing threat of IEDs in America | Fox News

According to FoxNews.com, the deadly attack on the Boston Marathon highlights what might be a growing threat to American cities--the use of IED's to target large gatherings, which could inflict massive damage with a device that is difficult to detect.  Security experts says that the use of IED's are a preferred tool when it comes to terrorism in domestic or global attacks--even against the United States.  According to Bill Braniff, the executive director of the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and the Responses to Terrorism, stated, "The reason to use an IED or multiple IED's is that you're trying to create an oversized impact to cause as much disruption as possible."  I say that's very accurate.  IED's is a way to strike fear in the hearts of Americans.

IED's are makeshift bombs that are extremely destructive when detonated.  They are designed to propel shrapnel and are sometimes used in combination with toxic chemicals, radiological material, or biological toxins.

What we saw take place Monday could be just the beginning of more of these devices to terrorize American cities in the United States.  To read the full story, click on the above link from FoxNews.com.
