Daily Presidential Tracking Poll: Romney in Lead

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - Rasmussen Reports™

Poll: Romney moves into leadMitt Romney

According to the Daily Presidential Tracking Poll from Rasmussen Reports, GOP candidate Mitt Romney is attracting 49% of the vote, while President Obama earns support from 44%.  Three percent prefer some other candidate and four percent are undecided.  These numbers are similar to the 49% - 43% numbers that are in Romney's advantage in answer to the question "Who is trusted most to handle the economy?"  Romney's five-point advantage is the largest enjoyed by either candidate in just over a month.  Whether or not it marks a lasting change or it will fluctuate as before remains to be seen.  One thing I do believe is if Romney does have a chance to win the race, it will be very close.  Mitt Romney must be more competitive in this race if he has a chance to win.

The problem is many conservative voters are wary of him because of his shifting positions on abortion, for example, and due to the fact he played a role in the passage of Obamacare in April 2006 while he was still governor of Massachusetts.
