Yesterday Susan G. Komen for the Cure announced that it was reversing its decision to end grants to Planned Parenthood, after facing all sorts of mounting pressure from lawmakers who support abortion rights and after accusations that the breast cancer awareness organization had bowed to political influences.  Susan G. Brinker, the founder of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure defended the organizations' original intentions for making the prior decision to end Planned Parenthood grants.  Brinker said that she wasn't trying to cast doubt upon the organization's commitment to their mission of saving women's lives.  She said the reasoning behind their funding criteria wasn't for political reasons.  They weren't intentionally trying to penalize Planned Parenthood.  Brinker stated they were trying to set responsible standards in regards to grant money.

Brinker said she would change the criteria in regards to conditions involving grant money.  Planned Parenthood was disqualified because of criteria that barred funding to groups that are under investigation.  As of present Planned Parenthood is being probed by a Florida Republican Congressman.  Going forward, Komen will not use "political" investigations as a reason to bar funding to a family planning organization.

I find it tragic that the Komen Foundation caved under political pressure from the liberal lawmakers to restore funding to Planned Parenthood.  I believe the truth needs to be known about Planned Parenthood and its clandestine activities in regards to trying to coerce young women to have abortions.  Planned Parenthood is not a pro-family organization and we don't need federal dollars or money from other organizations going into this insidious organization.  I hope Rep. Cliff Kearns (R-FL) continues the investigation into Planned Parenthood's activities.
