(Part 2)

Today is the tenth anniversary of the tragic terrorist attacks that took place on September 11, 2001.  It's a day that we as a nation will remember in infamy.  Approximately 3000 people lost their lives on September 11, 2001 as a result of airliners crashing into the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.  911 started out as another normal day.  At the time the attacks took place, not too many people were aware of the Al-Qaeda terrorist network or Osama bin Laden.  I do know from reading of accounts in magazines that Condoleezza Rice, then National Security Advisor, was briefed a month before the terrorist attacks that Osama bin Laden wanted to hijack airplanes.  There were other reports that a terrorist attack was possible, according to Richard Clarke, but officials in the Bush administration failed to heed the warnings.  It was a tragedy which could've been prevented, as far as I'm concerned.  However, I believe the powers-that-be or the forces of Nimrod had different plans.

I believe the 911 attacks were used as an excuse to give the government the power to clamp down on the freedoms of the American people.  The Patriot Act was passed a few weeks later following the attacks of 911.  It eased the restriction on governement agencies' ability to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial and other records.  It is a violation of the Fourth Amendment dealing with the issue of unlawful search and seizures.  Some will say that so far nobody has been hurt or nobody's civil rights have been violated.  Maybe not at the moment.  But that doesn't mean it won't happen.  If we ever have a full-fledged dictator assume the office of the presidency, we'll see the executive branch going beyond their constitutional bounds in efforts to successfully prosecute the war on terror.  It will be a dictatorship.  The president has the power to suspend national elections under the Patriot Act if they "feel" it's in the best interest of the United States.   I believe the Patriot Act is setting the stage towards fascism.

Today there will be a number of services in New York, Washington, D.C., and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania in remembrance of what took place on that tragic day ten years ago today.  Even though the federal government refused to act appropriately to prevent 911, I'm thankful for all those heroes on that dreadful day that risked and gave their lives for the cause of freedom.  I'm thankful for those that risked their lives that day that others might live.  Numerous New York firefighters died on September 11 trying to rescue workers trapped in the burning towers.  We saw a group of people in the face of tragedy that set their face towards saving the lives of their fellow Americans.  Even though we saw evil that took place on 911, we also saw the best of people as well.   They're representative of the American spirit that built this nation.  My hats go off towards them.  I also want to thank all those soldiers who fought in both Afghanistan and Iraq for the cause of freedom.  Regardless of what I feel about the government's policy towards prosecuting these wars in the Middle East, I appreciate the bravery of our soldiers in the midst of tumultuous times in the Middle East.  It's because of the soldiers that we as Americans enjoy the freedoms we do today.  I want to extend a hearty "thank you" to all that have fought for freedom to keep America safe.

I linked up an article from Pat Buchanan in Newsmax that I would encourage you to read.  Click on the above link to read the article.  Let's not forget the day and what it represents!
