Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone!  I hope and pray the new year will be the best year ever in your life.  Anytime a new year begins, there's always the possibility of new opportunities and a fresh start in life.  I'm no believer in making new year's resolutions, but there are some goals that one can set for the upcoming year.  With the passing of the previous year and the start of a new year you can take time to reflect upon the past year to see where you're at in your life and what direction you desire to take your life.  If you're not satisfied with how things went the past year, you can begin anew and make changes in certain areas of your life so you can fulfill some of the goals you have for your life.

There are many teenagers that are getting ready to graduate this upcoming Spring.  They have a whole life ahead of them.  They're in the process of deciding what major decisions they're going to make for their life.  Many are considering college or vocational school, others may be thinking of future relationship decisions.  Whatever decisions they are contemplating, one thing is for certain: time is of the essence.  I was thinking of the verse that I used yesterday with this year's concluding post.  James 4:14 says, "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.  For what is your life?  It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, then vanisheth away."  One of the absolute facts in regards to life is that life is brief.  If you don't believe me, ask those that are in the last years of their life.  If you were to speak with them, they would tell you that life has flown by.  I've heard some say they don't know where time has went.  I've heard some mention it seems like yesterday since they got married and bore their first child.  Now their children are grown and now have grandchildren.  I can honestly say that life is short.  I can say that and I'm middle age.  I'm almost 40.  However, it seems like yesterday when I was 18 years old.  I can remember the year 1989 very well.  I can also remember the year I graduated from high school which was in 1990.  It doesn't seem that 20 years should've already passed since then.  Time never stands still.

Psalms 90:10 says, "The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is cut off, and we fly away."  Psalms 90:12 says, "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom."  God makes much of time.  God is not bound by time.  He's the author of time.  However, he wants us to understand that time is of the essence and that we should make good use of our time.  There will come a day when we stand before God in the Judgment seat of Christ (for those who are born again) that we will give account of how we lived our lives.  We'll give an account of how we spent our time in life.  We are very frivolous with our time in this society.  We treat time like it's not that serious.  We sat back and allow life to just go by us.  We don't appreciate the brevity of time.  There are opportunities that we allow to pass before us on a daily basis.  We have the attitude that we have tomorrow to seize opportunities.  The only problem is we don't know what tomorrow may bring.  We may be here today, but dead tomorrow.  You never know.  The Bible says it's appointed unto man once to die, then afterwards, the judgment.  There will come a day when time shall be no more.  Nobody knows the day nor hour when Christ will come, but it's evident he's coming.  When you consider the signs of the time and that the world's headed in a break neck speed towards hell, you know that Christ's coming draweth nigh.

One thing we can do as we start the new year is to recognize that time is crucial.  You can never regain time.  Once January 1, 2011 is gone, it will never occur again.  We should live as if today is our only day to accomplish what needs to be done in our life.  We should make time a high priority when it comes to our daily living.  Any goals, desires, or dreams we may have, we need to recognize that time is of the essence.  Let's utilize our time wisely in this upcoming year and make every day count for the rest of our lives.  For you never know what tomorrow may hold.  Happy New Year!
