Dr. James Dobson Endorses Rand Paul for U.S. Senate after Admitting He Received Misleading Information

YouTube - Dr. James Dobson Endorses Rand Paul for US Senate

On Tuesday May 18, 2010, Kentucky will have its primary. There are several races in Kentucky next Tuesday. There are local races such as the commissioner races, county judge executives, etc. The Kentucky state legislature also has races in both the House and Senate. There will also be the U.S. Congressional races in which Kentucky will vote for six representatives. There's also a major U.S. Senate race as well. Jim Bunning, the current Senator, has decided not to run again this year. As a result, there's an open U.S. Senate seat. There are several candidates on both sides running for that seat. One of the most notable names that's running for the U.S. Senate seat is Ophthamologist Rand Paul. He resides in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is the son of Texas Congressman Ron Paul. Ron Paul made national news three years ago when he made an unsuccessful bid for president of the United States. One of the leading opponents against Rand Paul is Trey Greyson, Kentucky Secretary of State. He has made allegations that Paul wasn't pro-life and that he favored closing Gitmo in Guatanamo Bay, Cuba. Here's where Dr. James Dobson comes in.

Not too long ago Dr. James Dobson endorsed Dr. Rand Paul's opponent based on information he received from the national Republican Party leaders. Last week Dr. Dobson aired an ad over radio stated that he had received misleading information from the Republican Party leaders about Rand Paul and in so doing he (Dobson) endorsed his opponent. Nonetheless, Dobson later inquired from OB-GYN's as well as interviewed Dr. Paul and found out that Paul is pro-life. He also said that Paul supports Israel and the Tea Party movement. He also said Paul supports homeschooling. "Sounds like my kind of guy," according to Dobson. Dobson encouraged Kentucky voters at the end of the ad to send Paul to Washington to shake things up. One of the questions I have to ask Dobson is, why didn't you interview Paul earlier before you made an endorsement? He bought into the rhetoric that the talking heads of the Republican Party told him. My message to Dr. Dobson is you must be careful from whom you take your information from. Just because the National Republican Party claims to uphold traditional values doesn't mean they do so nor does it mean they are the right candidates. The talking heads of the Republican Party don't care about abortion or family values. All they're concerned with is promoting the New World Order Agenda. They're not concerned with issues that are good for Americans.

I've listened to Dr. Dobson a number of times over the last seventeen years. I appreciate the work he's done over the years as former president and chairman of the Board at Focus on the Family. I appreciate his traditional stance on the family unit. However, he along with other Christian leaders need to recognize that they can't place their trust in the Republican Party as a whole, especially the national talking heads. The national party has used the Christian conservative movement to attract voters. However, the national Republican Party cares nothing for Christian values. They're more interested in catering to illegal aliens than the average American.

From what I've read from Dr. Paul and from what I've heard, I'm planning on supporting him in the primary and in this November's election. I believe he's a good candidate on paper. However, after one term, he may be worthless. We'll just wait and see. Most of the candidates that are elected become part of the "good ol' boy" network. They receive campaign contributions from special interest groups to fund their campaign. Once they do that, they're bought hookline and sinker. Do I believe Dr. Paul can shake things in Washington? Not by himself. We would have to have a huge turnover nationwide in Congress in order to shake things up. However, it will be difficult, because politics in Washington is very corrupt and once you become a part of the Washington elite, you're no longer the same person prior to winning office.
